I don't have stats, but I put money on a lot of America watches The Walking Dead, it is still airing right? Not everyone likes it, but many are fans.
If TWD does anything, it shows us they have no fear of killing off characters. I mean, it is an apocalypse, people need to die in order for it to seem real. Unfortunately for the fans, our favorites sometimes are the fallen. With tonight being a season finale, an hour and a half long, it is guaranteed to show up and bring everything. I predict at least one major death, new trials for the group, and many many walkers. After a major death, we gasp, yell, cry, and swear we will never watch again. Alas, we continue to watch. So why do we keep coming back for more? We love it. It's a great show, we've watched from the beginning. We are flat out dedicated fans who will watch no matter what. We may hate decisions, but we move on as the characters do. Deaths make for good episodes. Think about a favorite character dying; did you enjoy the episode? We often end up loving an episode someone we like dies in, even though we hate the death. We'll find another favorite. That's just life. We soon start to forget their important role in the show. Someone else will come along and fill the empty apocalyptic void. We like the show more. We just happen to love the show enough that a character death will not turn us away for good. We will watch and keep watching because we overall love the show. We want to know what happens. We won't know who else dies if we stop. We won't know if they find a cure. Maybe they all die. It's what we have to do to survive, Rick would say that.
