Last night, my boyfriend decided to document through photos a tattoo his friend was giving him. Long story short, his thigh is full of tattoos and this new one happens to reach onto his a**. This got me to thinking, what if I were to do the exact thing he did?
The answer is, I would get a lot of shit for it. I'd get called a slut for even a peak of my booty. It's not appropriate to slightly show mine, when with men, it's fine. Men moon people for the enjoyment, if a woman were to go mooning, would that be ok? All of this talk leads to lack of equality in genders when it comes to showing some skin. Not only are their equality campaigns still reigning, but there are now campaigns to go braless and free nipples. I am not against these campaigns. A guys nipples can show through a shirt, but what about women? As I am for this, I also am for restrictions. There is a time and place for this and it shouldn't be hard to figure out. Girls should not run around high school or even college free boobin' in a tight shirt. You can probably guess that would distract some of the guys (or girls.) Another place not fit, the workplace; not professional, obvious reasons. My point is, if a woman doesn't want to wear a bra, if she wants to show a little skin, that should be fine, as it is for men. Should girls run around with no shirts, NO. That's just asking for trouble and all mens eyes on them. A girl shouldn't be afraid to go braless though if she pleases while out doing her thing. Being braless is a wonderful feeling. For me, it's hard to wear some of my outfits without a bra because I feel it looks silly. With others, I can get away with not wearing a bra and letting them breathe! As bras are constraining, they do really help pull off some outfits and make them look perfect. I may sound contradicting, but for me it's really a love hate relationship with bras. Women shouldn't be constantly stared at for losing the bra. Women should be able to have the same freedom in fashion as men do. For equality to fully happen, we have to let go of gender roles and let some more things slide for women. Not every girl is a slut for wearing that crop top without a bra. Equality for all!
